Pam Williamson – Assistant Director of the Southeast ADA Center
Supported employment professionals are in a unique role. They are the bridge between employers and employees with disabilities. We have the ability to help employers understand that creating a diverse workforce is more than simply hiring someone with a disability and providing reasonable accommodations. In this session we will learn how to start the diversity conversation with employers, discuss the steps to engaging and establishing a relationship with employers, and share resources that promote the development of the culture of diversity.
Join us as we learn how to promote a culture of diversity and include people with disabilities in all aspects of an organization’s operations. Everyone benefits and achieves success when a range of perspectives on how to address business challenges are shared among a diverse team.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
- Understand disability history and its impact on the work place.
- Discuss diversity and its impact in the workplace.
- Identify the questions needed to start the conversation with employers about “disability as part of cultural diversity.”
- Outline the steps to including disability in the diversity discussion.
